Third Lark Offspring is not content with his lot in life. He calls on the spirit of Morally Destitute Grandfather, who advises him that if he would like a change in fortune, he should disturb the sacred rest of Double Jointed Senator. Senator is angered but his curiosity is piqued. He sends Offspring on a year-long quest of self-discovery. Offspring returns empty-handed. "There's no self, self," says Senator, and returns to his grave relief.
